William "Bill" Ray Stevenson

William “Bill” Ray Stevenson, 56, of Karlin, died Thursday, November 15, 2012. He was born September 4, 1956, in Onekama, the son of Charles and Ruth (Royce) Stevenson.

Bill graduated from Kaleva Norman Dickson High School at the age of 17. He retired from Martin Marietta Magnesia Specialties in Manistee. In his spare time, Bill loved hunting, fishing and being with his faithful dog, Dodger.

Bill is survived by: his children, William Ray Stevenson II of Traverse City, and Shannon Wade Stevenson of Traverse City; 3 grandchildren, Kesha Stevenson of Mesick, Kassidy Stevenson of Battle Creek, and Zachary VanHorn of Battle Creek; his brothers, Robert (Margie) Stevenson of Manistee, and Steve (April) Stevenson of Manistee; his sisters, Kathy (John) Nichols of Luther, and Diane Stevenson of Chase; numerous nieces and nephews; his fiancé, Terri Conrad of Karlin; and some very special friends, Jim Bargerstock, Kenny Milliron, Jerry Holden, Laurence “Frog” Huntley, Richard Buckner, Steve Southlick, Annie Guenthardt Avery, and many more.

Bill was preceded in death by: his father, Charles Stevenson in 2000; his mother, Ruth Stevenson in 2001; his cousin, Patty O’Neil; and a very good friend, Ersie Schmidt Jr. whose funeral Bill attended last week.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 19, 2012, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, with Reverend Daniel E. Furman officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bill’s children, Billy and Shannon, to help with expenses.

The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements.
